frequently asked

How long have you been a photographer?

12 years! I went to arts school to study photography in Montreal when I was 18. I have been photographing families & couples since then & have been shooting weddings for the past 5 years.

What should we wear for our photos?

I've got a what to wear guide I'll send over so don't worry! I also have a client closet for you to choose dress rentals from.

How many images are included?

I have three different package options for photo sessions that all include a different amount of images. My full package includes all the images shot at your session, edited and in high resolution in an online gallery for you to save and keep forever.

For wedding packages its a bit different, each package has a guaranteed image amount that coincides with the hours booked. I don't withhold any images on wedding packages to be purchased additionally, I include all images captured to give you the full experience of your wedding day through your photographs.

How long is your turnaround time?

I try to keep this as speedy as possible. For sessions that you select which images you want, I aim to get my clients their proofs within 7-10 days. After your selections have been made the turnaround time is typically 3-7 days. For photo sessions that include a full gallery of the images shot, turnaround time is 2 weeks.

Wedding turnaround times for galleries are 4-6 weeks. I always send my clients a few preview photos from their wedding album within the first few days to show them how wonderful they look and give them a few photos to share and enjoy while they wait.

My goal is to have images back to my clients as fast as possible while also giving time to each and every image.

Do you give unedited RAW images?

No I dont. I believe editing images is very important and that is where 90% of my work time goes into. I think images are only half done when they're raw and in the back of my camera. I promise to not leave out any images that would be important to you, if you feel I missed an image please reach out and ask me, I would be happy to go through the RAW's and look! Sometimes a mistake can occur where an image was passed by but I always try to give all images (even funny outtakes) for you to have.

How do payments work?

Upon booking a retainer of 25% is due. The remainder of the payment must be paid 2 weeks prior to weddings and by the day of the session for all other bookings. If you'd like to pay in installments up until the date of the session that is absolutely fine too! I am flexible! :)

Can you photoshop us?

I don't alter the way you look in photoshop. I remove skin blemishes and marks that would not normally be there like bruises, scratches or blemishes but do not alter anything permanent. If there is something you are self conscious about please let me know and I can be mindful of that while posing you during our shoot.

What if it rains?

Living on the rainy west coast this happens a lot! I always suggest embracing whatever weather comes our way, some of my best sessions have been in a rainstorm or on a super windy or smokey wild weather day. It adds an unpredictable element that I find so inspiring! If the rain totally doesn't work for you and your session or its a crazy downpour that will ruin my gear we can make plans to reschedule!

For weddings, we obviously can't reschedule so I come prepared with umbrellas for you and your bridal party to continue with outdoor photos. We can also find coverings and indoor areas to shoot at weddings as well.

What happens if you can't make it to our wedding?

Oh my goodness! I hope this would never happen! First, let me say this has never happened before in my career. I am 100% reliable and will always make it unless it were out of my control (an act of god, illness or death etc) but in this case, I would do my best to find a replacement photographer to take my place that I trust with a similar style. I work closely with a few other local photographers and would do my best to have one of them fill in although I am not legally held to do so. If I can't make it to your wedding your money would be refunded in full.

Can you help with the planning process, location etc?

Yes absolutely! As far as photo sessions I have a ton of great locations we can shoot at, I prefer to shoot places a little off the beaten path and not in a well-groomed park or super popular location. If you have a location that is very important to you, let me know in the inquiry process and we can make that work! For weddings I can suggest nearby locations, recommend vendors for other needs etc! Feel free to reach out with any questions!

What time of the day do you shoot, my kids to go bed early?

I typically shoot around sunrise or sunset. For evening sessions, we usually meet 60-90 minutes before sunset to get that dreamy soft golden light. This tends to be quite late in the summer months, I suggest when booking a family session to let your kids nap during the day or sleep in a bit later (if that's possible lol) so they're not too tired by the time of the session. Snacks always help too! I try to keep my family sessions a bit shorter and get the kids photos right away, I am not a 'sit and smile' photographer so we usually have a lot of fun playing and running around at family sessions and I can typically get the shots we need early on so the pressure is off for them to stay engaged the whole time. A sunrise session is also a great option for families, children have the highest energy in the morning and are well rested- totally up to you!
